Hi, my family is in a bit of a pinch and I wanted to know what the current status is and what we can do.
I am a US citizen as I was born here, but the rest of my family are not. My father was originally working overseas when he got a job offer in the US, and so he moved here with my mother and sister under an H1B visa. They have been living here for a year now. A few months ago, my family applied for green cards through me as I am over 21, but they only approved my parents. So now my father is working under a greencard as opposed to a visa.
Our lawyer told us that this means my sister can no longer legally live in the US and attend school here. Is this true? It seems that our only option is to either move back to our original country or send my sister to a private school where she lives here under a student visa. Does anybody know if we have any other options?
