My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California
Hi, I'm new and so far it seems like a great website!
I had a paypal account and was frauded by someone on ebay. My account was down 1200. I was 15 at the time and was therefore a minor. I am now 22 and received a letter from a collections agency saying that they are willing to settle at 600. I understand that minors can not enter into contracts. So I called paypal and told them I was a minor. The guy looks at my account and says that he sees that I was a minor at the time so they waited until I became 18 to send it to collections. I asked him if this is legal, and he said yes.
I want to know if it is legal for them to this and if they can actually come after me to collect the money. If not, what steps should I take to resolve the matter?
