    Post Lease Renewal Time Period

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: PA

Started a one year lease August 2009. First week of January 2010 we received a letter asking us to respond by February 1 to state whether or not we were renewing the lease. This seems really early to me and I was wondering if this was legal to require us to make a decision more than 6 months in advance about our lease. Most people do no list apartments to be rented that early so it is not like we could look now to see what our options would be at the end of July. I started looking for more info on lease renewal time frames but am not having much luck so far. Any help or point to a resource would be appreciated.

Default Re: Lease Renewal Time Period

It's legal to ask you the day you sign the lease.

There may be a provision in the lease allowing you to renew by a much later deadline, specified within the lease. Read it and see what it says.
