Post 7 Years Apart, Want Divorce - How To File

My question involves divorce in the State of: I live in Missouri, he is in Pennsylvania the last I knew

Okay, so to make a long story short, I havent been with my legal husband in 7 years. We do have a child together that he has custody of. I do not know where he is at this time. I knew where he lived 7 years ago, but Ive had no contact with him since then. How can I go about starting a divorce? I don't want to fight for custody or anything, I just want a quick divorce to make it final after this long. Please help me

You can use his last known address, certainly.

Is it safe to say you want neither custody nor visitation with your child?

Yes that's safe to say.. Its a long story, but when it comes down to it, thats safe to say.. I just want a divorce. I wont be fighting for custody or visitation..

But I guess I dont know where to start.. Are the online places safe? What state to file in? I just dont know where to begin

It would appear that you need to file in PA, where he and the child reside.

    They've been there awhile, correct?

If that's the case, just google "pro se divorce, your county PA" and see what turns up. Failing that, just call the courthouse and ask which forms you need to submit.

They cannot help you fill them out, but they can give you general information.

To my knowledge thats where they still are, that's where all his family is, last we had contact was 7 years ago.. We were married in Tennessee then both moved to PA, which shortly after I left for MO. How would I even go about filing there? Would I have to travel there to do this?

You should be able to divorce where you are, but the court would not be able to decide custody or visitation issues unless your ex- consents. It would be easier in some ways to file where the child is domiciled so that all of the issues could be handled at once, but if you don't know where that is and it would involve your traveling to another state, obviously, in other ways it would be much more difficult.
