Hello, I currently live in Seattle, WA. In 2006 I got in an accident which later lead to my guilty plea of vehicular assault two years ago. I am currently 26 years old, a full time college student at a local University and enrolled in business school. I franchise my own gas station in the Seattle area. Last year my sister married an officer in Canada and moved to Canada. There have been several occasions where business meetings were held in the Vancouver area for work and I was unable to attend. I would also like to visit my sister from time to time.

What are my options? When I was denied entry from the Canadian boarder, they said I had to apply for a temporary residence in Canada. What are the chances my application will be approved and what steps are needed? As I said earlier I am 26, born in the US and have never had any problems with the law in my life aside from this one incident which occurred in 2006. I am an honest hardworking US citizen. The events that lead up to my conviction can be explained and the victim can write a statement if need be. Please advise me on my options. Thank you so much!
