My question involves criminal law for the state of: Pennsylvania
Hey all, and thanks in advance. OK, first a little background. I plead guilty to a number of offenses - retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension. I received about $1300 in fines and a year of supervised probation. I've been on probation for about two months. No felony charges, obviously.
Anyways, I was born in Canada and always intended to go back at some point, have worked there in the past, etc. I just found a good job, and my old man is helping me get a place lined up, etc.
Now, I had mentioned that this may happen to my PO, and he said that it probably wouldn't be a problem. What I'm afraid of is that I'm supposed to move up there january 25th, and I have a meeting with my PO on the 16th. What if he says something like "whoa whoa, lets pump the brakes here, you're still our property!" I recognize that I committed the crimes, but I intend to pay my fines off via mail so I don't get arrested if I come back to visit my family.
So hypothetically, if they were to tell me I can't go, and I went anyway, what would happen? Was my crime serious enough that they'll come and drag me back to PA in handcuffs, and bill me for said dragging? Or will I never be able to come back?
Not going is not an option. I'm getting too old to be living in a rural hellhole with no job, no license, no prospects, and no future. This is the opportunity of a life time and while I don't want to flout the law, I need to do what's best for me.
Remember, I have dual American/Canadian citizenship, so it's not like I'll be an unwanted guest of our neighbor to the north.
Whoa, long post. Anyways, I'd appreciate any help you fine ladies/gentleman could give me. Thanks so much for your time.
