Default Filing My W-2 After Being Married to an Illegal

    Hello,

I have a few questions about marrying an illegal. My wife came over from Mexico illegally when she was very young. We are going to get married soon and I am worried about what may happen after that. I know that I should put that I am married on my tax forms but then they will ask for her social security number. Obviously she does not have one. I dont want to use a fake one because then I am in fear that we will get identified. Should I not put that I am married at all? What about when we have kids.. will the government find it fishy if i all of a sudden put down that I have children? Will they investigate it?

Do not use a falsified social security number. Your selfish concern is misplaced; you are worried only about yourself getting caught. You may create untold problems for an innocent person by this identity theft. Get an ITIN number. Look at the IRS website on this.
