Default Can I File for Divorce Without Returning to Columbia Where I Married

My question involves divorce in the State of: Florida

    Hi,

I am from Columbia, but have US Citizenship. My wife is also from Columbia. We married in Sogamoso, Columbia in 2005. She does NOT have citizenship in the US but does have a permanent Alien Resident status. She has committed adultry, admits it, and will not contest the divorce. We have no children. We have joint ownership of two homes: one in Columbia, one in the US. She can have the house in Columbia. We have no other assets. I desire as little interaction with her as possible.

Can I file/process for divorce from Florida without returning to Columbia?

    Thank you in advance!

If she will not contest, it will be easy to file in FL.

You can find the forms and other info at www.flcourts.org

What if she does contest? Now, I have changed my mind and do NOT want to just 'give' her the house in Columbia. She most likely will contest such a decision. Thank you.

You'll probably need to hire an attorney if she contests.
