My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York
I would like to take the matter into my own hands. Three years ago I was convicted for Assault in the Second Degree (felony) and given 5 years probation and 500 hours community hours. Since then, I've lived clean as a whistle, tripled my income and got engaged without any incidents. College educated and fully employed with no prior incidents. At this point is possible that my job might immediately relocate me (I am also considering relocating to California with my fiance). With this economy I need flexibility to relocate and I need my life back.
I was told by PO that early release is recommended by Probation Department only on basis that there are no prior incidents during the probation, it is not a violent crime and my job has been held for more than 6 months. Otherwise I need to get a lawyer and see the judge. I would like to perform the process Pro Se or "on one's own behalf".
Can anyone provide me with any leads or directions on how to do this.
Thank you
