Question Assault on a Public Servant

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
My boyfriend of ten years is on medicine and is under MHMRA well he didn't take his pills(chlorpromazine and citalopram) that night of the 28th and he went crazy, starting throwing things and screaming, the police were called out and because hes 6'3 and 250 they had a hard time arresting him, instead of taking him to the hosiptal they took him to jail and charged him with assault of a public servant w/bodily int. how serious is that charge and how much time is he looking at? ( This is not his first time in jail, repeated offender when he was younger)
