A few months back, My wife purchased an Audi with my father as the co-signer. The Audi had major problems and the dealership agreed to trade it in at equal value for another car. We traded it for a Toyota Corolla. My wife and father signed the new purchase order but I got it towed for driving on a suspended license before we could take the purchase order to the credit union to have the
title transferred.
So, the owner of the vehicle, by law, is the car dealer's girlfriend. She nor he is anywhere to be found. The phone is disconnected and the dealership says he is on vacation or something.
What can I do, other than getting my license back, in order to retrieve the vehicle as soon as the 30 day impound is up? Since we have a purchase order with my father and wife's name on it, can we use that to retrieve the vehicle?
And if I can't do anything and decide to leave the vehicle there, who is responsible for the impound fees? Furthermore, can I go to the dealership and get my Audi back since I never took the purchase order to the credit union to have the title transferred? Or, since I included it as a trade-in, I am now obligated to the Corolla and cannot get the Audi back? Please help!
