My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Maryland
Hi everyone! I'm having trouble with this situation. So I purchased some items from Dick's Sporting Goods in September that was at least $160. I ended up returning all the items a few days later. It was a smooth and quick process and I thought the refund was to my bank account. A couple of days, I checked my bank account and the funds were not returned so then I waited about 2 1/2 weeks to check again but still nothing refunded.
Then I proceeded to call the store and they said they can't help me because I had lost my receipt but if find it then they could do something. Well, I couldn't find it and then I called my bank which I was then told to file a claim even without receipts. They also gave me temporary credit because they saw the amount that I purchased. A day or two later I find the receipts and I immediately called my bank but they said that the claim has already been filed and to keep the receipts for future reference.
Later, I was prompted to fax my receipts and then I discovered that the receipts had said that I received a cash refund which is false. I never received anything because I remember the associated had asked me to swipe my card and do the regular process of returning items when paying with a credit/debit card. My bank just tells me to write a statement along with my fax and so I did.
Now, I have a letter saying that there was no error within this whole process and that they will be reversing the temporary amount of money given to me previously. I contacted my bank as soon as I read this and they said they have nothing to do with this situation anymore. The representatives instructed me to call the company and so I called the local store where I purchased the items. The manager told me that it is impossible that could have happened because the system would have flagged if they were over in the register. He then told me to come in and show him the receipts so he could fax them to corporate. I came in and another manager, not the one that I spoke on the phone with, told me that there is no way for him to send it to corporate so it would be better for me to call them and then he told me the same thing the other manager told me. Basically, I went to the store to find out the same information and mislead on what to do. Anyways, what else can I do or what will happen? This is a lot of money to lose so I'm really worried. Thanks
