My question involves guardianship in the State of: Washington
a good friend of my family's is a legal adult. she is disabled, and needs someone to help take care of her, though she can still manage well on her own. her mother was made legal guardian in the courts. both her father and mother have stolen from her ssi checks as they were her payees. there is too much stress in her family for her to handle. she's been living with us, her father, and brother for 3 months, and her father and brother left her here. they now say that she has to move with her parents because they have "custody" of her. She doesn't want to go. She wants to stay with us, and we have no problem with that. We just want what's best for her. Does she have to move with them? Does she have a right to say where she lives or who her guardian is? How can she change who her guardian is?
