    Default Shoplifting Amount $300 at New Jersey

    I got caught in JC Penney yesterday for shoplift the goods of worth $296. Police took me to the station for finger prints and photo and released. Police said we will get the court date in mail. Do we need to find the Lawyer for the court? What would be the maximum charges? What should be the next step for us?

    You definitely need an attorney! You're looking at possible jail time and, at a minumum, several $$$ in fines and court cost, community service and probation.

    Best to get a lawyer....depending on your record, you may be able to get a plea deal to a lesser charge....
