Default Can a Tenant in Massachusetts Break His Rental Agreement Due to Psychiatric Illness

This is a situation where the tenant has no choice but to remove himself from his circumstances as a whole under the supervision of a doctor.

This is a 1-year lease, with 7 months remaining till expiration.

    Thank you for your responses...

Default Re: Can a Tenant in Massachusetts Break His Rental Agreement Due to Psychiatric Illne

Unless there is a clause releasing the tenant from his responsibilities in the case of severe illness, no, he's still legally on the hook.

You would do well to discuss the matter with your landlord, to see if a solution can be worked out. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised.
