    just outlaw it entirely!!!!!

Never mind. I just heard they already tried that and it didn't work.
    You can't legislate morality.

Prohibition was the most crime ridden era in American history.

I remember, vicariously, that during Prohibition, similar logic was used. It is no wiser now than it was then.

It's patently stupid to suggest that because some people lack the capacity to use something responsibly, an entire class of people should be excluded from it. Incidentally, look at the statistics in countries where they're far less restrictive about drugs and alcohol with respect to the rates of abuse and addiction to either of those, and then try again.

I suppose your love of liberty is constrained to only things you want people to be free to do, the rest of them can **** off, huh? If anything, you should well-know by now that the idea behind the constitution is to restrain the government from imposition on its peoples. Apparently, so long as you have a large enough bug up your ass, you're ready to throw all of that out the window.
Ashman, once again, I find myself in complete agreement with you.

Are you positive you were once a poilceman? You sure as hell don't sound like any cop I ever met.

No. I was speaking of JFK. His father "earned" the family fortune as a rum runner during prohibition. That money ultimately allowed JFK to wage a successful presidential bid; ergo, prohibition elected JFK.

It was 21. Then in the early 1970's the trend caught on to lower it to 18. This was back when young men were dying in Vietnam and the same so-called logic was used - "if you're old enough to die in a rice paddy in Vietnam aren't you old enough to drink a beer?" I could drink when I was 17 because I enlisted and was on an army base and they didn't care how old you were. Nevertheless, after a few years of the 18 year old drinking age the country universally and in unison came to the collective awareness that it needed to go back to 21.

    You can guess why.
