Default Defendant Copy of Speeding Ticket Impossible to Read

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: Blaine, WA

    Hey guys,

So I recently got my first speeding ticket on my drive back from the states for the first time (I live in BC, Canada). It was a total bummer cause I was merely keeping pace with the pack of cars in front of me (but I happen to be the last car) and managed to get singled out... This was also 3 miles from the border, so I suspect this cop was mainly trying to meet his quota of tickets for this month...

Anyways, the offense was for going 86 in a 70 zone. He might have SMD'd me, or he was ticking the Pace box. I noticed that he failed to note that I'm not the owner of the car. It also appears he might have spelled my name wrong, my weight off (by 40pounds), and maybe a few other things.. which makes me want to contest the ticket. If he cant even put the effort into writing me a proper ticket...

I seem unsure about the other info mainly because my copy of the speeding ticket is impossible to read. He either used a crayon or wrote the ticket in the air as I can barely make out the print on it... so what I want to ask are the following:

    1. Is noting the owner of the vehicle critical information in a speeding ticket amongst other information?
    2. Can I only file for a Discovery request (to view the original ticket) if I choose to contest my ticket?
    3. If Q2 is true, and I contest and file a Discovery request and see that his ticket has all the correct information (save Q1), then can I still change my plea and pay before the scheduled court day?

The reason for Q3 is because it would be quite a drive back down just to fight a (possibly) losing ticket and not worth the time.

    Sigh.

I look forward to your advices though ~ Thank you in advance!

    1. No.

    2. If you want a better copy and the ticket has been filed with the court, you can get one from the courthouse for a nominal copying fee - and you can probably view it at the court for free. You can then decide if you want to contest the ticket.
