My question involves criminal law for the state of: ME
At a grocery store in a neighboring town, I decided to nab a bottle of alcohol and hide it in my jacket. Upon leaving the store, a woman in plain clothes, but an obvious employee, standing at the front of the store followed me into the vestibule, and as I walked by the glass on the outside, attempted to make eye contact with me. It seemed quite apparent that she was either suspicious, or knew I had shoplifted. Granted, I did look a little suspicious as I was very nervous. I pretended to not notice her at all and walked down the strip to the store at the opposite end and proceeded to wait for my ride. My only problem is that I'm almost 99% certain that I am caught on camera, either nabbing it, or at some point in the store. So, my questions are:
1. How likely is it that she would go back to review the cameras in order to identify me?
2. How likely is it that I would be identifiable by the video camera alone if I were to remain out of the store? (I have been in trouble with the police before in a neighboring town for a completely different action, and they took mug shots)
3. How likely is it that criminal action will be taken and a police report filled out in order to track me down?
I know this may be similar to other posts, and I'm not looking to be reprimanded for what I did as it was obviously not the best choice.I'm just hoping to get some advice and hopefully some peace of mind in my specific situation.
Thank you.![]()
