I hope this is the right place for this. (PS, I'm a non-smoker and in total support).
Michigan just passed a Non-Smoking law that includes no smoking in restaurants, bowling alleys, bars, etc. The only exceptions are casino gaming floors, and the Indian Tribe Run Casinos. The law also covers workplaces where there is atleast one employee. It exempts smoking in a vehicle, or your own home office.
This is a rundown of questions from the Detroit Free Press. http://www.freep.com/article/2009121...es-smoking-ban
But...people are very misinformed (on my local papers forum) and think people will be hogging up prison and jail space for lying to a cop (no, that is not my cigarette).
My question is: If Mr Smoker has already refused to not smoke despite signs and the law (after May 1, 2010), then perjures himself to a cop (I did not smoke that Marlboro, it must be someone else's).
- Would this person be looking at:
- Arrest, released on recognizance, charged as Disorderly Person? Something like that?
Insight please?![]()
Thanks, I want to be knowledgeable about this one, I also participate on the papers forum.
