Default Sister's Ex Has Suspended License, Sister Needs to Renew Registration but Can't

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Florida

Hello, my sister's ex has a suspended license, he helped her co-sign the loan for her minivan, he's in jail now for DUI and has his license suspended for 4 years. She's makes the payments on the minivan and has been trying to find a way to get him out of the title so she can renew the registration, because of the age of the van a mileage shes not able to refinance it or sell it, her registration expired 12/04 and she's pretty much stuck with no car, no way to get to work or take my niece and nephew to day care... we would be very grateful with you guys if you could provide us with some ideas to get her out of that mess.

    thanks so much in advance.

If he and the lender agree, he can probably convey his interest in the vehicle to her subject to the lien. But I don't know if either will agree.

Is the vehicle solely in his name? Jointly owned? Awarded to her in the divorce? The registration issue being that she doesn't want to install and pay for an ignition interlock, or something else?

I'm sorry for the incomplete information in my original post, the issue with the registration is that the FL DMV won't allow it's renewal, because of her ex's suspended license. The minivan is jointly owned, and the financing was also done jointly between them, my sister is listed in the title and all other paperwork, she also has been using her personal checking account to make the payments, as the minivan was always intended to be used only by her, and he only helped her as a co-signer so she could get the loan. Also if it helps all car-bills ie repair, maintenance, etc are in her name.

Would be so kind as to elaborate on the ignition interlock? she wasn't told of that possibility, and shes been desperately looking for answers everywhere.

Also would there be an attorney or lawyer specialized in this kind of issue? most ads for attorneys are for injury or other type of legal problem that this issue doesn't seem to relate to.

    thanks again for your help.
