Delays and Rescheduling of Court Date

i am 18 and from ohio, which is where my case is so all procedures are by ohio law

i have lent and ipod out to a friend almost six months ago after we quit being friends she never gave it back so i took her to small claims court. in return her boyfriend was upset and filed a counter suit against my boyfriend and i for $2000 claiming we keyed his car. (which he didn't and has no evidence of) the trial was suppose to happen in august but was rescheduled for september as a pre-trial. at the pre-trial both cases were put onto one docket to become one. from there i had court this morning and the other sides lawyer couldn't make it because of traffic. isn't there something i can do to stop the delays and rescheduling and to just get the case over with.

If the judge finds cause to adjourn the case, that's the judge's prerogative.

well is there anything that i can do to get the judge to adjourn it. im sorry but i dont exactly understand everything with court.
