Default Roommate in Michigan refuses to leave

Two months ago I allowed a friend to move in rent and utility free. She had nowhere to go so I helped her out. Last weekend I asked her to please leave and find another place to live. She says she has rights and refuses to go. What can I do. My landlord doesn't know she is there and she is not on the lease. I have recieved nothing for her housing and want nothing. She has threatened my pets and don't know what she is capable of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does she have a key? Are you on good relations with your landlord? A houseguest doesn't have a right to overstay her welcome, but if she has a key it can be hard to get rid of her without the cooperation of your landlord.

She does have a key. I am on good terms with my lanlord. If I have to get them involved I will, but what can they do. She has threatened me twice and smashed me and the dogs with the door. I'm maintaining the high ground and not saying anything.

Consider having the landlord change the locks. You may wish to consult the local police department in advance, just in case there is a disturbance.

I was told that since she has forwarded her mail, I have no recourse. Would I have to go through the eviction process as if I was the landlord?

What does her mail have to do with anything?

If she has her mail delivered to my home she is considered a resident and from my understanding she then has writes to ocuppy.

Cool. I think I'll forward my mail to the Playboy Mansion and tell Hef I'm moving in.
