    Default Two Different Court Dates

My question involves traffic court in the State of: California

Hello all, I am making my post here today because I am very worried that I made a serious mistake and I am hoping that someone out there can help me.

I got a traffic citation from an officer because I didn't have my proof of insurance on my persons.

On the citation that he wrote me I signed for an "appearance court date" but then about a week later I received a courtesy note from the court saying that they processed my citation and I needed to clear it up by posting bail or showing proof by appearing in court on a different date than the one on my citation.

Thinking that this new date overrode the one on the citation I forgot about it only to find the citation lying around today and realizing that I had missed that court date.

I had also checked on the website putting in my name and drivers license and the only citation listed was the one on the courtesy note.

My question is: did the date on my courtesy note override my citation date?

the citation date was 12/8/09 yesterday

and the courtesy note date is not til the 23rd

I will be going in first thing tomorrow to check on it and the make sure that if I did do something wrong I can fix it right away.

Who knows I might be overreacting but it's better to be safe than sorry.

    Thanks guys

Yes, you need to appear in court tomorrow to clear this matter up. If you are told that you need not appear until the 23rd then I would request that they date stamp your citation (proving that you were there) that way it doesn't come back to bite you if you show up on the 23rd and they tell you you are late.

Also, if this is for failure to show proof of insurance, and assuming you were insured at the time but did not have proof with you, simply take proof that you were insured on the date that you were pulled over and take care of the entire matter tomorrow.

Oh, and assuming you were insured, you will have to pay a $25 administrrative fee to have the citation dismissed.
