Question Can I File for Unemployment in California if I Also Have Small Business on the Side

I work part time (was 20 hours per week, now 16), and I am also registered as small business owner (IT Consultant, self employed). About 90% of my income comes from my part time job (W-2), and about 10% from private clients from my business. At my part time job my supervisor told me a while ago that he will be letting me go in December (after I train a guy who is to take my place – who happens to be a friend of my supervisor, and was not able to find a job for a long time).

My question is, can I apply for unemployment insurance, if I still have my own small business on the side? I barely have any work from my private clients now.

P.S. I live and work in California.

Yes, you can apply. You will report your self-employment income, and may receive only a partial benefit, but based upon those ratios I would be surprised if you don't qualify for a partial benefit.
