My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kentucky

Facts: 22 year old Male, No Priors.

The other night I was studying and received a phone call from my mother to check on my sister who was celebrating her birthday at an apartment complex right by my house. The apartment complex is on the other side of the railroad by my house and is fenced in. Large apartment complex, 7-8 buildings with 10 apartments or so a piece filled with strictly college kids.

I decided to go check on her, and entered the premises by entering an enclosed bridge that goes from my street onto the apartments property. The enclosed bridge requires a tenant to open the door, but I entered with other residents who were crossing the tracks and had their access card. When I got onto the property I walked towards the building to where my sister was and approached a mob of 10 people or so fighting. I heard cops yelled and decided to turn around and head back home when all of a sudden a cop shined his light on me walking away and then them who were a good 20 yards from me and made us sit down. I ended up getting arrested for 3rd Degree Criminal Tresspassing because I was not a resident of the building. Apparently, there was a fight at an apartment party with dozens of 18 year olds involved, however I was not there nor knew any one arrested with me.

I was taken to jail and sat there for 8 hours before being bailed out by my mother.

Supplemental Facts:
- I have had several friends live in on this property that have invited me over and I have visited frequently.
- I was stone cold sober and not associated with the group that caused the disturbance.
- I was never asked to leave by an officer, nor have I ever been under the impression that I was not legally allowed on the property unless I was a resident.
- I have no priors and in a graduate Masters of Accounting Program.
- When pleading my case with the cops before being handcuffed, I was only told to shut the hell up.

Now that I am entering into a rigorous job search while obtaining my CPA, I am very aware that I need to have a clean record so I have pleaded not guilty because I do not want "Criminal Tresspassing" on my record.

I have yet to formally seek a lawyer's advice so I'm really concerned on whether or not I will be able to beat this in court. I believe I'm truly not guilty of any crime and just a victim of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

What do you all think?
