    Default V.A. Refinance

Can you tell me if I have to pay for an appraisal for a VA refinance with no cash out?

The lender never gave me a truth and lending agreement with the figures for a refinance. He just put us through hoops and put us off for 7 months by signing papers here and there. He was a friend that I thought could be trusted.

We scheduled three times for the signing. All three times had to be cancelled due to the loan officer forgot we needed another paper to sign. This took over 5 months. He said he kept asking for extensions on our interest rate lock.

At the end of 6 months he said I had to give the appraiser a check because the bank needed that. The appraisal came in low. I never received an acknowledgement of why we did not get the loan. Now I am out $400.00 for the appraisal fee.

Normally the person seeking financing is responsible for the appraisal fee. If there's something in a contract you signed with the lender that holds to the contrary, you can point that out to the lender.
