I am in the State of TN

I know that in TN there are no state laws governing benefits. I do know the law only states that it is left up to company policy. I am pretty positive I am correct on this.

Our handbook as it is written states that if you do not give a two week notice you will not be eligible to be paid for your unused vacation and sick time if you voluntarily resign your postion. As I understand the above statement, since that is the policy set by my employer I should be paid for any unused sick and vacation time if I give proper notice (which I intend to do). That said, my question is this.

What is my recourse if my employer does not follow the policy outlined in our handbook? If I contact the labor board do they have any way to inforce this? Or would I be forced to hire a lawyer and fight it that way. I am concerned because there are rumors that this policy is to be changed. I have not received a new handbook or anything stating such, but my employer has stated that whatever vacation and sick I have now will be taken at the beginning of the year. I currently have amassed almost 600 hours of vacation time and over 800 hours of sick time. This will result in a very large amount of money that would have to be paid based on the current policy. Any help would be appreciated.
