My question involves name change laws in the State of: Florida
Hi, I am a permanent resident in Florida and I have some questions on the child name change. Since my daughter and son have an original country’s first name, I’m trying to change their names. My family will be able to apply for the citizenship in January 2010, but I am not sure I can change their names by the N-400 application for naturalization. I found the option for the adult name change, but the option for child name change doesn’t seem to be available. My questions are followings:
1. Can I change their names through the N-400 application by adding their preferred names on Part 9 of the N-400 application?
2. If Question 1 approach is not allowed, can I change their name through the file for use of “Florida minor name change forms”? Can this form be used for the name change even for a permanent resident?
3. What would be a right step to change the name change? N-400 application first or child name change first? Which one is the first in order?
Please let me know. Thank you very much.
