Exclamation Trying to Decide if I Should Get Emancipated

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Indiana.

I am 20 years old and live in the state of Indiana. I'm trying to get educated and decide if emancipation is something that I should do. A few people have told me to look into it.

I have a full time job and am finacially independent (for the most part), but my parents are refusing to help me pay for college.. and without their help, I can not afford to go. The problem is that (at least in Indiana) I have to fill out a FAFSA for government assitance to help me pay for school, but I never get awarded any grants or loans because my parents annual income is so much money. So.. according to that, my parents make so much that they should easily be able to help me, so the government won't.. and my parents have chosen not to help me as well. And there is nothing that I would like to be able to do more than go to school full time. So would this be in my best interest, to file a petition to be emancipated so that I can get help to go to school?

Or will I be able to apply for FAFSA independently when I reach the age of 21?

You're already an adult. This is something you need to address with your college financial aid office.

You will be able to apply independently when you either marry or turn 24.

If you cannot go to school without the help of your parents, you need to put the brakes on your plans and re-evaluate. There is no law requiring you to attend college full time right this instant. Try working and taking a class or two, or consider postponing altogether until you can apply independently.
