My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
I was laid off in March 2008. I was in the first 3 weeks of Fed-Ed when I found a job in June. Reported the income in June, had a telephone interview in August, received a check for partial payment for June, and also filled out the two additional claim forms that they'd sent, writing down that I was still working. I didn't receive anything else from EDD so I figured they'd closed out my case.
I was let go a couple of weeks ago and called EDD. Spoke with a rep there who told me that this would be considered a continuation of my original claim from March 2008, and not a new claim.
Since then I have received two separate letters from EDD with two separate interview dates scheduled. One to discuss payment from previous employer (I'm assuming this is regarding the job I was recently let go from ?) and one to discuss not mailing the claim forms within the required time frame. I also received a slew of new claim forms to fill out, dating back to the week after I last qualified for payment in June.
I'm not sure what's going on with the forms I mailed back to EDD in August after my initial telephone interview. I filled the new forms out and just mailed them back - I have no idea what happened. I'm also wondering if the fact that I checked "no" under "presently looking for work" will go against me, even though I had a job that was paying more than unemployment and didn't anticipate being unemployed again within 5 months.
Thoughts?
