    Default 484 a Misdemeanor Petty Theft, First Offense

    My question involves criminal law for the state of: california
    what are the chaces of getting it reduce or aplea bargain so it dosent hurt my record
    :confused


    the item 42.00 i admitid to it, thinking they whould make me paid for it and let me go.

    I have another question can i get fire from my curren job if i get a misdemeanor?

    It is possible.

    You can be fired at any time with or without reason or notice. This is referred to as "at will" employment.

    The only offset to this is if you are fired for a reason specifically named in labor law. These reasons all figure around protected classes of person... you cannot be fired for your race, national origin, sex, etc.

    There is one state I know of where your criminal record could be argued as a member of such a class (though it specifically names felons) but it is not California.

    If your job involved retail or money, you could find this a real issue.

    No it dosent. But it is a city job.

    I dont now if it matters but i am in a union thats it help?
