My 18-year-old daughter was recently caught shoplifting, charged and jailed in Williamson County, TX. I bailed her out. She has had desires to go to school to study a health care profession. The health profession departments in Texas colleges will do a background check that includes a search for "felonies and related misdemeanors" before admitting her to a program. Some type of background check will also be performed by the licensing agency.

My question is, since she only has been charged with one misdemeanor, will the college's search turn it up? Does "felonies and related misdemeanors" mean that only misdemeanors that were charged in connection with felonies turn up?

Thank you in advance for your help.
