My question involves criminal law for the state of: arzona
I feel horrible about how I handled this situation. I was in a neighborhood corner clothing store, which I always go to, I went in straight to the area were the shoes were, because i wanted to buy sum boots. After finding the ones I want, the lady who brought my size out to me, took them to be held upfront. I began walking around the store looking for a sweater to match a vest that I had brought in the store with me. She was following me around the store the whole time. Finally I went upfront and stood in line, a different employee confronts me about a vest that her co worker said that was missing, I told her I did have one, but I brought it in with me. I puulled it out of my purse to show her. She still asked to look in my purse. I told her no because it is my privacy and they didn't have a right to. I asked her if I would be able to purchase the boots or not, she said yes. Then after waiting in line, the cashier told me she wouldn't sell me anything. So I said fine, left the boots, but on my way out, I grabbed the closest thing to the door and walked out. They came out and got my liscence plate number.
Were they right to do that to me? What should I have done?
