My question involves criminal law for the state of:
I ended up being accused from shoplifting in a Whole Foods store in Illinois for putting a wrong tag on a piece of cheese that was more expensive, it was a stupid and careless thing to do but anyways after I paid everything at the register they stopped me and brought me to a room with the resposible of the theft department and the guard of the store. They asked me questions and asked me to admit that it was me who stick the tag on that cheese. I admited and they took a picture of me and a copy of my ID and asked me to sign a form in which I agreed in not coming back to any Whole Foods store and they asked me to pay the $4 dollar difference of the item.
The police was not involved and they didn't mention anything about civil demands or fines, they just asked me to leave and promise that I would never do it again. But now I am freaking out because I have been reading all these cases about fines and attorneys, etc. If they didn't mention anything about civil demands is it possible that I get one?I didn't get any copy of anything either. Please help. I am scared, I have never stole anything in my life I didn't mean to do so..
