My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
Hello there forum. Currently I am being charged with possession of marijuana >4 oz<=5 Pounds. Wrong place wrong time and trusting a friend that I shouldn't have... At this time my lawyer says that they do not have an official weight in for the correct amount of marijuana. They also left out information on me being an informant to the police during the night of my incarceration. I'm being indicted as a felon even without the proper amount of marijuana weighed in from forensics. What kind of sentencing does it look like at this time with the current laws that exist in Texas? I'm sure that the weight of the marijuana was not 4 oz's over and should be charged as a misdemeanor (I even took the weight of a similar plastic bag that contained the pot and found the weight to be 3.92 ozs minus the police officer's weigh in). With a misdemeanor how long is a standard period of time to wait for employers not to raise an eyebrow to the offense that was given? At this time it seems like I wasted my efforts in giving the information over to the police, but really what leeway can they really give off of information handed over?
