My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan.
My boyfriend and I were caught stealing from a store. We were arrested, taken to the police station and fingerprinted. Then sent home. We were caught with about $90 worth of merchandise. He had a previous record of disturbing the peace. I have never had so much as a ticket. We just made a bad decision and we got caught. And truthfully, we learned, it was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life. I had someone elses bank card in my bag, I had picked it up from the ground and put it in the small pocket of my purse that isn't used often and just forgot about it. Though, I understand how that looks to the cops and the law, someone caught stealing and has someone else's bank card.
The cop said that I would be charged with credit card fraud if it is called in as stolen and/or has any charges on it. Today is the third day since the incident and so far I have not heard anything from the cops, store, bank, nothing. I don't know what to expect to happen or how much trouble to plan to be in? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
