Default Accident - Not My Fault, Not My Car, and a Possible Suspended License

My question involves a traffic accident in the State of: Colorado

My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: Colorado

So I was involved in an accident tonight. I was stopped at a red light and the person failed to slow down, then slammed on his breaks, but was unsuccessful in avoiding a collision. His car was damaged pretty good, mine not so much.

I was in a hurry to get to my destination, and the sheriff's office told me that they were busy and had no officers available and it would be a long wait if I wanted to file a report. So they told me to exchange info, and file a report online.

    First of many problems,
The gentleman who hit me, didn't speak English, but his gf was there to translate. He was hesitating on the info, so I asked if he would be in trouble if the cops came, and she said "I don't know" which to me translates as he did something wrong besides driving like an idiot. SO my point is I am not sure if his info is legit including the insurance info.

Secondly, I myself am in a bind, I recently got my first speeding ticket ever. The problem was, I was unemployed and had no money to pay the fine, I showed up on the date the ticket stated, I saw no judge, no attorney or anything, I was sent straight to the clerk to pay. When I explained that I have no money and no income coming in, she said I had to file an extension, well the date had to be exactly two weeks out, so I had no choice. So I agreed and went on my merry way, now I missed my extension date, due to a last minute job interview, and I got the job, but now I missed my payment date, by a week.It said that if I missed this payment date, that my license would be suspended, so I think that it is suspended now at the time of my accident.

Thirdly, the car is not mine. It is my grandparents, I am not on their policy as a driver and I extended my visit to actually living with them, which insurance states that I have to be on their policy if I reside with them. That was going to happen, with this new job. Unfortunately this mess happened in the gap time.

So my questions are, what are the consiquences I face driving with a suspended license, getting into an accident, and then not being under their insurance, even though the accident wasnt' my fault.

Get your license reinstated. I can't make promises, but I am skeptical that if you go to the police with a valid license that they'll retroactively figure out that you were DWLS. Nor are they going to investigate the terms of your grandparent's insurance, beyond noting that the car was insured with a particular carrier.

I doubt that the other party's insurance company will be interested in your grandparents' claim unless there's a police report.
