Hi all,
My question concerns landlord tenant law in AZ.
4 Tenants signed a year long lease. The house is a 5 bedroom with different pricing for each room. The pricing is not specified in the lease. There are however numerous e-mails between the Tenants explaining the cost of the rooms. 1 Tenant moved out almost immediately after moving in. That Tenant continues to pay rent.
The Tenant that moved had a falling out with the Tenants that stayed over paying utilities. The 3 Tenants agreed to no longer charge the 1 Tenant for utilities provided that the Tenant pays for one more month's worth of charges. After the Tenant that moved out paid their end of the agreement, the other Tenants decided that rent would now be split equally between the 4 instead of room by room. This resulted in the Tenants' original rent amount to be increased. All Tenants pay the landlord separately and all Tenants are given a separate receipt for rent.
There is no statement in the lease concerning how rent is split. There are statements between the Tenants concerning how rent is split. I am the Tenant who moved out. I would like some advice. Do my roommates have the right to change our agreement? Do they have any legal standing? Does anyone have any insight on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.
