Default Furlough Days for Salaried Non-Exempt Employee

    This is in Oregon.

    -Employee works for private company.
    -Is salaried and non-exempt.
-Does not have a contract, but does have a signed 'job acceptance' form.
-Job acceptance form has job description and salary amount. (X amount paid twice a month, regardless of hours worked)
-Employee was recently informed that she is being included in taking furlough days, along with the hourly employees.
-Has further been informed that salary will be reduced for those furlough days. (I believe they just figured out what each days wages would be based upon a typical 40 hour work week)

Is this right? I was under the impression that salaried employees make salary, regardless of hours worked because they're not eligible for overtime. But since I've never been a salaried employee (asking this question for a friend), I'm willing to say that I really have no idea...

(I know this is very similar to other questions that have been asked, but I wasn't sure about some of the #s, %s in other posts, so...)

    Thanks in advance!
