My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: CA
I was pulling out of a parking lot (turning left) on to a street that has 2 lanes of traffic in both directions with a center turn/merge lane. There was a truck in the turn lane preparing to turn in to the parking lot that I was exiting. Once traffic cleard from my left, the truck proceeded to turn in to the parking lot. After the truck passed in front of me I pulled in to the center turn/merge lane, got up to speed, signaled, and pulled in to the traffic lane. Right when I pulled out of the parking lot I saw there was a local police officer sitting across the street with his speed gun out clocking oncomming traffic. As I proceeded I noticed that he immediatly put down his speed gun and pulled out behind me. When he pulled me over he asked if I noticed the person that I cut off and if I noticed the finger gesture they were giving me. I advised the officer that I signaled, looked and there was plenty of safe space for me to merge with the on comming traffic. He obviously did not agree and cited me for the violation. I am wondering if the is beatable in court? I know it is just his word against mine and that the court tends to side with the officer in these cases, but I was hoping that someone might have some advise to help me fight this bogus accusation from this officer. I have not recieved any violations in over 20 years and it really upsets me that I might be dinged for this one when I did nothing wrong. Any help is appreciated. THANK YOU!
