DV Charge in California

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

My ex wife of many years came by home to pick up one of my children. There other circumstances as well so she was heated. She forced her way in my home I said no you cant come in, she lunged and bit me. I pulled away and tried to hold her and get my phone from my pocket she grabbed it and threew it accross the room.

My child called police, they came asked questions let my child stay with me and asked if I wanted her arrested, i said no but filed charges the next day. Police took picture of my arm.

She has been charged with DV pre trial date soon, I do have a witness, but dont know if his statement was included in the report. My child witnessed as well.

I have a custody hearing soon, how will this charge effect it, will I have a better chance at custody? What if she is convicted of it. How will it effect her work, (Financial Institution)?

I plan on helping the state.

It's not a good thing to commit acts of domestic violence in front of your kids - courts really don't like it. As for how it will affect your case, I don't know anything about your case beyond your description of this incident - if you're working with a lawyer I suggest asking your lawyer.

She said I have avery good chance at getting my kids.

Also, does she have to go to the pretrial hearing? This was a 273.5 charged as a misdomener.
