My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: alabama

I was terminated at the end of august for "falsifying time cards". I was approved for unemployment and have been receiving it now for almost 2 months. I have never falsified any company document. What I did was take my work home with me and visit local businesses passing out flyers while keep myself clocked in (for one night in july). Unfortunatly none of the managers that I had business relationships with are employed at those businesses, and I never bothered to get their personal information so no proof there, just my word.

I was salary so no matter how many hours I work I still earn the same wages. We had been through 5 different district managers (in 2 1/2 years) before I was terminated by the last one. I have never been written up and I never signed any documentation that I agreed with my discharge. My store was the top store in the district. He just pulled me into an office one day (with the other dm that was taking over) after having me work an open house and asked me why I had clocked myself out at 9 p.m. but i was not at my store. I explained to him that I had been out passing out flyers and possibly at another store (when this happed it had almost been 2 months since that friday) and that if I was clocked in I was doing work related stuff. He spoke to me in third person, telling me that "now we know michelle was not doing work the whole time". I have never been reprimanded by any employer in my 10 years of working so I was really nervous. He asked me why i thought it was okay to go do stuff like that and I explained to him that the previous manager encouraged us to go to community events and pass out flyers. I was in tears in the end and he pretty made me feel that if I didnt disagree it would be a slap on the wrist.... Needless to say he let me leave the room then contacted his boss, about 2 hours later they pulled me into the room and told me I was terminated. He told me that it was not company policy to go out and pass out flyers and do company work while at home (even though if you take a conference call from home you are told to clock in). I want to know if i should fight this or just start saving up the money to pay back the unemployment I received?
