I just wanted to say thank you for all the help around here.
Special thanks to lawresearchermiss and mmadsen55 for all your great and nice answers.
I just went to the GC interview this morning with my husband and got approved.
For all of you out there still trying, my ONLY advice is to keep the faith and just believe.
I was on the internet day and night researching a lot, and was so scared reading other people interview experience.
Here is how ours went down: (not one question asked, yes NONE... nothing about the house, food we like, not even how we met.. nothing, NADA)
[The interview was scheduled at 11:15 AM, but our lawyer told us to get there one hour earlier because the scheduled time is close to noon and the officers sneak out to lunch sometimes and you are left waiting for them for 2 hours.]
So we got there at 10:20. went upstairs and were waiting in the lobby (or waiting room, whatever). 10 mns later, the lady (a philipines native) called us but our lawyer went downstairs so we waited until he came back.
We then went in the lady's office once our attorney came back.(when our lawyer saw her, he sai "oh it's the pillipina... She is really nice.. you don't even need to worry.. It's christmas" LOL)
You stay stand up and swear to tell the truth.
We sat down. She asked my name, address, parents name.Last time i entered the U.S. My I-94 (which i lost, but i had the stamp in my passport).
And then come all the questions you answer "NO" to.
After that, she asked the date of the wedding. How long we knew each other. Did we know each other parents.
We didn't have that much joints documents since I just got my SSN(we had DWP,AAA, life insurance, bank account).
She barely looked at the couple pictures we had.
Then she asked whether i work. I said No.
She asked my husband if he does. He answers yes. She asked where? He works at Goodwill industries. and that's when the conversation about Goodwill took off. The imm. officer started talking on and on about how she donates things all the time at Goodwill, she buys from there, she sends books and stuff back to less privileged kids in san francisco...
Basically, after the basic info about myself she just talked on and on with my hubby about his work (about 10-15 mns coversation of Goodwill donations, lol).
And that's it.. She said, I approved your case! Welcome to America...
So once more thank you.. and good luck to the rest of you... Pray a lot and just be calm when you go there...
