My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Oklahoma.
5 1/2 years ago I had to cancel a Verizon service since they did not have service in the area I moved, there was no problem doing this. A few months later I recieved a bill from a collection service saying I owed Verizon, i called Verizon, they said I did not owe them - that they owed me a refund and would take care of it. - they did send me 2 checks. The next year the same thing happened - I called again - Verizon apoligized - said a computer error - This has not stopped , Every year for the past 5 years I get contacted by a new collection agency and call - last year i found out it went on my credit report, I called Verizon and was promised it would be the last time, that I owed nothing - it was a computer error on thier part. I just got another call from a new collection agency for the same Verizon bill. This is now 5 1/2 years later and my credit has been ruined by them. I need legal help, can they really have no responsiblity to take care of this - I was told today that i owed nothing and the account was sold so they can do nothing. this cant be true - is it???
