My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California
I was traveling on a four lane street, with two lanes in each direction. I was in the right lane and there was a car in the left lane next to me. I needed to get over to turn left so I put my turn signal on, I looked back to see if i was clear to change lanes and proceeded to change lanes. Next thing I know there is a cop car behind me and I am receiving a ticket. He writes me up for "unsafe turn w/out signaling causing vehicles to stop/brake." He tells me he would of let me go with a warning but since I had my 1 year daughter in the car and my pregnant wife with me that I should be more careful. So he writes me up.
So with that said, I wasnt speeding. He wrote on the ticket my speed approx was 35 and the max speed was 35. He lied and said I didnt use a turn signal, I did, I even questioned him afterward and told him I did. My wife can attest that i put my turn signal on too. He just replied signing the ticket is not admitting your guilt. The guy that I turned in front of was traveling under the speed limit around 20mph and constantly hitting his breaks ev en before I pulled in front of him. In fact he was making a left before I had turned in front of him.
Im not sure what else can be of relevance but I know for sure that I did not do an unsafe turn. What should I do?
Thanks,
Chad
