    Default No Lunch Break

My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: NY.

I have been working for a non-profit museum in upstate ny for nearly 7 years, full time. In that time I have not once received a formal lunch break. When I did eat I was still required to answer phones and radio calls. Am I entitled to compensation of any kind? Thanks.

when you say "non-profit", are you still speaking of a privately owned business as opposed to being a government employee?

Were you paid for the time or was the "break" unpaid time?

The business being nonprofit is irrelevant.

What are your daily job duties?

yes. it is a privatly owned business, an educational non-profit ogranization. The brakes are are paid brakes, however my department is the only one that does not receive an actual break. I work straight 8 hour shifts unlike the other departments who get 2, 15 minute brakes and a 30 minute lunch. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I work in the security department so duties vary. Anything and everything as needed, including but not limited to driving, working the reception desk, patroling the floors and securing the building, employees and guests.

Can you not spell or type, or are you just using textspeak? If the latter, please don't do that any more. It's confusing and it just isn't helpful.

    Thank you.

    OP, here you go.
