Default Getting Off the Sex Offenders Registry for a Crime Committed as a Minor

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan

I heard recently from a friend about an act that allows someone charged as a minor as a sex offender to get on some list that will take them off of the sex offenders registry, is this true? and if so, where do I find the required information?

Default Re: Getting Off the Sex Offenders Registry for a Crime Committed as a Minor

According to the Michigan State Police,
Quote Quoting How can I remove my name from the Public Sex Offender Registry?
Sex offenders who are adjudicated as juveniles, may be eligible to petition the court for alternative registration requirements. This may include removal of your name from the public registry.

All others must petition the court to have their name removed from the registry.
    See MCL 28.728c.

When you say "minor", be aware that somebody who commits a crime at age 17 in Michigan will be prosecuted as an adult.
