My question involves divorce in the State of: IL
I have a significant other living in the State of IL and I currently have been a resident of FL for 17 years and still reside here. He is filing for divorce in IL this week and I need to know if an IL Alienation of Affection lawsuit could possibly be brought against myself since I am a FL resident. To my knowledge FL does not recognize Alienation of Affection but am wondering if something called long arm could apply across states. I have not been in the State of IL for numerous years. When I do travel to the Midwest, I see my significant other in the state of MO, which also does not recognize Alienation of Affection. His attorney has told him that since we have known each other for over 45 years and that I am living over 1,000 miles away that I should not worry about this. I just would like to obtain another opinion on this.
Thank you.
