The other night a friend of mine was driving home in the lane next to the passing lane on a stretch of interstate with 4 lanes each direction. She was traveling maybe a little above the speed limit (10+- mph) and was being passed in the lane to her right when a police car zoomed up behind the other car but held position behind her in the next lane over. Doing as we are told to move over to emergency vehicles, she signaled and began pull to the far inside lane to allow the police car to pass. The police car drove next to her for a few seconds but she did not make eye contact as she was checking traffic as she moved over. He then zoomed ahead to pull over the car that was passing her on the right. She signaled to get back in her lane and continued on. Now we have the nagging feeling that the officer wanted her to pull over as well. If this is the case and she did not pull over, what could possibly happen? Would the officer have run the plates of the cars while pulling them over, and now come knocking on her door in the middle of the night with a warrant? And if so, what is the charge and penalty? Is it considered "disobeying a police officer"? or leaving the scene?(of what?). I'm at a loss to help calm her paranoia.
