Default Do I Have to Pay My Employer for the Trip

My employer planned to take her employees on a fully paid cruise trip at the end of this year. I quit my job 2 weeks ago and now my employer told me that I am financially responsible to pay her for the cruise. I accepted her offer on going to the trip about 2-3 months ago and she did not disclose that I will be responsible if I were to quit my job. I do not wish to go on the trip anymore since it is a company outing. Am I legally responsible to pay her for the cruise? Thanks.

    what are the written agreements?
has a ticket been printed with your name on it?

who paid for it? her personally or the company?

sometimes people quit a company and leave them in the lurch
sometimes a company fires an employee and leaves them in the lurch

if it were the other way around and they fired you for before Christmas would you expect them to still buy your gifts

why would she expect a former employee to pay for a trip now that she doesn't work there?

if company's don't want to take losses like that they should try harder to retain people that they have invested in.

just like employees try hard to please the employer so they don't loose their jobs

There was no written agreement...just casual verbal agreement.

    No cost to you what-so-ever?

    based on what?

were you to be responsible for the costs if you did not quit your job?

If it was never agreed that you would pay for the trip, you are not responsible for the costs now.

If you had agreed to pay for the trip in some way, then you would still be liable for the money now.

I would suggest speaking to the former boss and suggesting it would be in both party's interest for you not to go but if paying her back depends on you going or not, you will go. She also needs to understand you are not happy if having to go and most likely, that unhappiness will be seen by the others and it surely will affect their enjoyment of the trip.
